Here at The Diabetes Center of Tyler County Hospital , we can help you manage your diabetes. We teach a comprehensive program geared to your specific needs as a diabetic. Our class curriculum is approved by the American Diabetes Association. Working as part of your healthcare team, your physician, nurse, diabetes educator, and registered dietitian will be there to instruct you in every aspect of your diabetes care plan. Do You Have Symptoms of Diabetes?

• Always tired
• Always thirsty
• Always hungry
• Frequent Urination
• Blurred Vision

• Wounds that won’t heal
• Vaginal infections
• Sexual dysfunction
• Unexplained weight loss
• Numbness/tingling in feet

If you experience 3 or more symptoms of diabetes, talk to your primary care physician about having a simple blood test to check for diabetes. Diabetes is a condition in which you cannot use the foods you eat properly. While there is no cure for diabetes it is very controllable.

Risk Factors of Diabetes

• Being overweight
• Inactivity
• Family History
• Being Black, Hispanic, Native American, or Asian American

• Storing fat mainly in the abdomen
• Being 45 or older
• Having Pre-diabetes (borderline)
• Having had Gestational diabetes or having had a baby that weighed over 9 pounds
