JOB SUMMARY:   Under the supervision of a physician and the COO, administers or directs the administering of prescribed cardiopulmonary procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures, and assists in the maintenance, and disinfection of cardiopulmonary equipment.

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:(This list is a succinct summary of core duties only. Other tasks will be assigned)

  1. Administers or directs the administering of gas, aerosol therapy and IPPB therapies.
  2. Performs bronchopulmonary drainage, assists or instructs patients in breathing exercises.
  3. Maintains charts that contain patient’s pertinent ID and therapy information.
  4. Supervises, performs, and directs arterial punctures and analysis of the blood including maintenance of the blood gas analyzer, quality controls and proficiency testing.
  5. Maintains or supervises maintenance and removal of secretions by various methods.
  6. Supervises and places patients on mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, CPAP and monitors them continuously.
  7. Directs and performs pulmonary function testing on patients.
  8. Direct and performs holter monitoring on patients to include setting patient up on acquisition module, removing it and analyzing the report.
  9. Supervises and performs routine ECG’s and prepares them for physical interpretation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  1. Graduate of an approved JRCRTE program.
  2. Knowledge of cardiopulmonary equipment.
  3. Registered by the NBRC and licensed by the State of Texas.
  4. Prior work experience as a RCP, CRT or RRT preferred.
  5. Current BLS Healthcare Provider card required.
  6. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and time management.
  7. Duties include extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling equipment, lifting and supporting patients as well as lifting up to 50 pounds.
  8. Must be able to take call with a response time less than 20 minutes.
